Venezuelan conductor José Jesús Olivetti will make his debut in November 2025 at Bachfest München, a landmark festival that has established itself as a major reference in the musical life of Munich and the Bavarian region.
Bachfest München 2025 will take place from 31 October to 30 November and will mark the 100th anniversary of the festival’s first edition in the city.
Under the motto “Universum Bach”, this special edition will offer an extraordinarily diverse programme, allowing audiences to experience Johann Sebastian Bach from multiple perspectives: both in historically informed performances and through contemporary interpretations.
The festival will include concerts, workshops, exhibitions, lectures, and immersive experiences such as virtual reality, combining tradition and innovation around the music of the great German composer.
More than 70 cultural institutions will contribute to the organisation, with nearly 200 events scheduled throughout Bavaria. The Gasteig HP8 will be one of the main venues, hosting innovative projects such as the virtual reconstruction of the Himmelsburg in Weimar and Relaxed Performances. In addition, the festival will feature prestigious orchestras, choirs, and international ensembles, ranging from major symphonic productions to intimate performances in cafés and chamber halls.
Highlights include the festive opening service on 31 October, the grand-scale cantata overture on 1 November, and the official opening concert on 2 November at the Isarphilharmonie, performed by the Freiburger Barockorchester and the Windsbacher Knabenchor.
José Jesús Olivetti and the Philludiker Symphony Orchestra
As part of this anniversary edition, José Jesús Olivetti will conduct the Philludiker Symphony Orchestra in two concerts:
- 22 November, 6:00 pm, at the Pfarrsaal der Pfarrei Hl. Kreuz
- 23 November, 11:00 am, at the Adalbert-Stifter-Saal
These performances will feature oboist Benoît Leclerc as soloist, performing Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto for Oboe d’amore and Orchestra in A major, BWV 1055, adding a uniquely warm and delicate colour to the programme.
The repertoire will also include works by Gioachino Rossini and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, creating an artistic dialogue between Baroque and Romantic traditions.
This debut represents an important milestone in Olivetti’s career, reinforcing his close connection with Munich’s musical life and marking his participation in one of the city’s most representative festivals.
